China Securities Regulatory Commission has granted license for the Prudential Asset Management Co., Ltd of the Republic of Korea (ROK) as a qualified foreign institutional investor (QFII), Apr. 15, 2008 (China Knowledge) - China Securities Regulatory Commission has granted license for the Prudential Asset Management Co., Ltd of the Republic of Korea (ROK) as a qualified foreign institutional investor (QFII), according to the commission's announcement. The investment quota still remained unknown. The new approval brought the gross number of China's QFIIs to 54. China granted Columbia University QFII status in mid March, ending the time when no new companies gained the QFII status since October 2006, according to Shanghai Securities News on Saturday. In December 2007, the country increased the QFII quota to US$30 billion from the previous US$10 billion. Columbia University and ROK's Prudential are the only two companies which have gained QFII status so far since the quota promotion.
