Apr. 17, 2008 (China Knowledge) - China's tax administration said that the country's tax revenue jumped 33.8% year-on-year to RMB 1.51 trillion in the last three months, boosted by the strong economy activity, industrial production and investment.

Revenue from the stamp tax on stock trading increased RMB 59.7 billion, up 387.8% year-on-year, resulting from the country's policy of tripling the tax ratio on May. 30.

While revenue from the value-added tax, consumption tax and business tax surged 25.2% to RMB 754.1 billion, and the corporate and personal income tax revenues climbed 34.5% to RMB 381.4 billion in the first quarter this year.

China's export tax rebate surged 21.9% year-on-year to RMB 143.3 billion in the first quarter, although the country has reduced the tax rebates for certain export products. Last year, the country's tax revenue surged 31.4% to RMB 4.94 trillion, accounting for 96% of its fiscal revenue.
